Are you taking intentional steps to reach your goals?

It's new year, which means you might already be planning on making some changes. Maybe it's to lose some weight or maybe you want to stop biting your nails or who knows, maybe you want to start meditating.

Whatever it is that is on your goals list for the new year, it's clear that you want to make a change. But how are you going to do so? Well, the secret is actually pretty simple. You just need to take intentional steps every day in order to reach your goals by 2022.

But how do you actually go about doing that? I don't know if it's just me, but when I first set a goal for myself, the first thing I do is immediately start looking at other people who have achieved what I want and it's usually not going to be a very long list. Actually, if you start looking on Google or YouTube or a quick search on Instagram, there are mostly likely going to be a few celebrities who have what I want and that's definitely not who I want to emulate, for multiple reasons.

So instead of looking at those people as your role models, I think it is much better to look at the people in your own life and see how they got to where they are. It's also probably best not to make it a competition with your friends either, because when you start comparing accomplishments, it can get really annoying.

Instead of trying to find someone who has done what you want and then taking a step back and saying, "I want to be like that," you should instead say, "What can I learn from this person?"

For example, let's take a look at somebody who lost a lot of weight. For the sake of privacy, we'll call her Jamie. When Jamie decided she wanted to lose some weight and get in better shape, she changed her diet and began working out on a regular basis. However, of course, not everything worked for Jamie and that is completely ok. After a few months, she was able to figure out what foods would help her lose weight and which ones would not.

What's even more amazing about our friend Jamie is that instead of giving up after a few failed diet attempts, she kept trying different things until she found what worked for her. Jamie had no one to emulate so instead, she set out on a mission to learn about nutrition and exercise in order to find success.

It's not just enough to have an idea of what you want to do though. You actually have to set out with a plan of action if you want to succeed. For Jamie, that meant making sure she had meals planned for certain days and also doing some research on the best foods to eat when trying to lose weight.

But what about people who don't know how they are going to reach their goals? What if someone wanted to start a business, but couldn't do so because they have no idea how to go about it?

In this case, you just have to take a step back and think about what you want your end goal to be. This is the point that most people give up on their goals because they don't even know what it is exactly that they want.

But let's go back to this new business idea. You want to start some kind of online company, but you don't know what it's going to be about and how it will generate income. So, step one is figuring out what your end goal is and then writing it down.

For instance, maybe you want to make $20,000 per month. Now that you have this number in mind, it's time to take a look at your skills and see how you can make extra money with them. Maybe writing is your talent or maybe cooking is where you shine.

Taking small steps each day will lead to big changes over the next few years!

Now, instead of looking at your lack of previous knowledge as an obstacle, it can be looked at as a new opportunity to learn and grow.

Now that you have the tools to set yourself up for success in 2022, go out there and do it!
